Starting Early!
In mid-February, Sue and Shannon's 2nd grade classes experimented with "winter-sowing." Each child picked a seed packet, read how deep to plant their particular seeds, and sowed their seeds in their recyclables. The plastic containers are meant to act as mini-greenhouses, allowing the seeds to germinate on their own outside.
Hopefully, the sprouted plants will be able to be used in the school's garden.
For a while...It looked grim.
But now they are growing like gang-busters!
Upon recent inspection, most seeds had sprouted. Not much luck with the tomato seeds, but these peas had to be opened as they are already too big for their container.
